Rand Paul Embarrasses Harry Reid

On Wednesday, Paul, with little notice, attached an amendment to the small-business re-authorization bill. The amendment, which chastises President Obama for his actions in Libya, urges members to adopt the president’s own words as “the sense of the Senate.”

To make his point, Paul quoted, in the legislative language, from Obama’s 2007 remarks on the subject: “The President does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation.” According to Paul’s office, “the measure aims to put the Senate on record affirming Congress as the body with constitutional authority on matters of war.”
GOP sources tell National Review Online that Paul’s proposal flummoxed Reid, who does not want his members to have to weigh in on Obama’s dusty quote about congressional authority, even if the vote is only to table the measure.

Ignoring the will of the people and betraying us (once again), the members of the Senate voted to PASS S 510 Food "Safety" Bill! FOURTEEN REPUBLICAN SENATORS were among those voting to pass this bill!

This bill, as you know, has NOTHING to do with Food "Safety" and EVERYTHING to do with exercising more control over the American people! If you had thoughts about planting a garden this coming Spring, think again! S 510 robs us of our God-given right to supply our own food!

If you feel betrayed as we do, join us in letting the fourteen Republican Senators know just what we think of their vote!
Visit our FAX Center and read the FAX. If it meets with your approval, request to send "S 510 Traitors" fax

Obama Can Shut Down Internet For 4 Months

  • read more on www.prisonplanet.com
President Obama will be handed the power to shut down the Internet for at least four months without Congressional oversight if the Senate votes for the infamous Internet 'kill switch' bill, which was approved by a key Senate committee yesterday and now moves to the floor.
The Protecting Cyberspace as a National Asset Act, which is being pushed hard by Senator Joe Lieberman, would hand absolute power to the federal government to close down networks, and block incoming Internet traffic from certain countries under a declared national emergency.

  • read more on www.prisonplanet.com
The Senators pushing the bill rejected the claim that the bill was a 'kill switch' for the Internet, not by denying that Obama would be given the authority to shut down the Internet as part of this legislation, but by arguing that he already had the power to do so.
They argued "That the President already had authority under the Communications Act to "cause the closing of any facility or station for wire communication" when there is a "state or threat of war", reports the Sydney Morning Herald.

Fears that the legislation is aimed at bringing the Internet under the regulatory power of the U.S. government in an offensive against free speech were heightened further on Sunday, when Lieberman revealed that the plan was to mimic China's policies of policing the web with censorship and coercion.
"Right now China, the government, can disconnect parts of its Internet in case of war and we need to have that here too," Lieberman told CNN's Candy Crowley.

Previously, Obama's Federal Trade Commission has floated the idea of a so-called "Drudge tax" on popular alternative news websites as a means of propping up failing mainstream media outlets.  According to a recent Rasmussen Reports poll, the public is overwhelmingly opposed to such a scheme – as well as any bailout of the flagging newspaper industry.

Faith leaders advocate climate-change measure

Just so people understand, InterFaith has nothing to do with all Faith leaders. They are trying to create a Global Religion.

Leaders of faith communities urged Virginia Sens. Jim Webb and
Mark R. Warner yesterday to endorse far-reaching climate change
legislation as a moral imperative. The 100 clergy members from
Virginia, representing various faiths, said legislation pending in
the Senate should call for reducing greenhouse gas emissions by at
least 25 percent below 1990 levels by 2020 and by 80 percent by
2050. The Senate may not take up the legislation this year.

"In affirming the moral need for climate legislation, we are
mindful that this may raise the cost of basic goods," the faith
leaders wrote. "So we also ask that any such legislation include
social safety-net provisions for families that are already
struggling."

The signatures were secured by Virginia Interfaith Power & Light,
an offshoot of the Virginia Interfaith Center, which lobbies in
Richmond, and Greater Washington Interfaith Power & Light.

Dems Spark Alarm with Call for National ID Card

WASHINGTON - JUNE 09: Police officers take do...Image by Getty Images via Daylife

A plan by Senate Democratic leaders to reform the nation's
immigration laws ran into strong opposition from civil liberties
defenders before lawmakers even unveiled it Thursday.

Democratic leaders have proposed requiring every worker in the nation
to carry a national identification card with biometric information,
such as a fingerprint, within the next six years, according to a draft
of the measure.
It would require all workers across the nation to carry a card with a
digital encryption key that would have to match work authorization
databases.

"The cardholder's identity will be verified by matching the biometric
identifier stored within the microprocessing chip on the card to the
identifier provided by the cardholder that shall be read by the scanner
used by the employer," states the Democratic legislative proposal.

Obama & Co. Want National Biometric ID

Schumer and GrahamA bipartisan group of U.S. Senators is teaming up with the Obama administration to legalize illegal immigrants and require biometric national ID cards for every American worker, prompting a swift and bipartisan backlash across the nation.

The proposal would unconstitutionally force nearly all Americans to obtain the new “tamper proof” Social Security cards while purporting to require that all employers purchase new $800 ID scanners. It would also provide a “path to citizenship” for the estimated 12 million to 20 million illegal immigrants currently living in America.
Citizens must unite to defeat this effort. If Obama and his allies like Senator Graham manage to force this monstrosity on the American people, the last remaining semblances of freedom will be in critical danger. Americans already said no to amnesty under former President George W. Bush. Why would adding an unconstitutional national ID scheme with biometric data make it any more desirable?

US, Russia Hammer Out New Nuclear Agreement

clipped from www1.voanews.com
US President Barack Obama and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev (file photo)
The United States and Russia say a new strategic arms agreement will be formally announced when the presidents of both countries have spoken with one another about it.  White House and Russian Foreign Ministry spokesmen say the conversation is expected soon.  A new accord would set an auspicious tone for President Barack Obama's nuclear summit in Washington on April 12 and 13.  The agreement faced difficult negotiations, and more problems could emerge during ratification in the U.S. Senate.
Before the United States and Soviet Union signed the 1991 Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START) both sides had tens of thousands of nuclear warheads.  The pact mandated a reduction to about 6,000.
Delivery systems, such as missiles and bombers, will also be limited.
It also raises expectations for further weapons reductions in the years ahead.
And success of that conference, said Mr. Ban, can help the whole world live without fear of nuclear weapons.

Health care latest: House hears Republican objections

WHY WE NEED HEALTHCARE ASAP: COBRA BITES IN US...Image by roberthuffstutter via Flickr

President Obama speaks on the phone with members of Congress.
Follow the very latest on the health care vote and find out what it means for you, tonight on CNN. Watch the debate online, on TV and your iPhone.

Washington (CNN) -- The House is set to vote Sunday on the health care bill passed by the Senate in December.

Here's the latest on what's happening on Capitol Hill:

7:57 p.m.: In an impassioned speech, Rep. John Lewis, D-Georgia, urges his colleagues to pass health care reform.

"This may be the most important vote that we cast as members of this body. We have a moral obligation today, tonight to make health care a right and not a privilege," Lewis said.

"This has never been about health care. This is about government," he said, arguing that the proposed legislation would destroy health care for those who are happy with the coverage they have.

The Louisiana representative said he will not support the Senate bill because of its abortion language.

GOP to use amendments as tactic

Again what is Not talked about is the Positive ID Chip that goes along with this heathcare plan.
www.positiveidcorp.com/
Be sure to read through all it. Know what it is, and show others as well.

Even though Democratic leaders on Sunday conceded they didn't yet have the votes to pass President Obama's overhaul out of the House, Senate Republicans are threatening to put up hundreds of amendments — one of the few weapons in their limited arsenal — to force Democrats to take difficult votes on politically sensitive subjects.

Amendments don't have to be relevant to the subject matter under the controversial tactic Democrats are using to avoid a filibuster, so Republicans can force Democrats to take tough votes on any number of matters, such as closing the detention facility for terrorism suspects at the U.S. Naval Base Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Democratic leaders said they can't risk passing any amendments to the bill, even if they agree with them. If they were to pass, it would require more time — and possibly more votes — to marry the Senate legislation with what passed in the House.

Senate Plan Calls for National ID Card to Curb Illegal Immigration

EPC RFID Tag with permission of SMARTCODE Corp...Image via Wikipedia

Revelation 13:15And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

16And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

17And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

18Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

A national ID card using biometric data such as fingerprints is at the center of an immigration reform bill being hammered out in the U.S. Senate – a measure that once again probably will pit advocates of homeland security and tough immigration enforcement against civil libertarians, employers and immigrant rights groups.

The new effort by Sens. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and Lindsey Graham, R- S.C., will revive the “Real ID” debate that has festered for years with little effect on illegal immigration. Under their plan, a universally required card would be encoded with all sorts of information regarding the holder, as well as contain a unique biometric signature created from either fingerprints or the vein patterns on the tops of the hands.

Bottom line: Employers will not be able to hire applicants who do not present a valid ID.

But others don’t like the idea of a government with control of biometric data of every U.S. citizen.

Abuse of Power WSJ

It's the Constitution, Stupid! Remember &quot...Image by Peter Vidrine via Flickr

clipped from online.wsj.com

'An undemocratic disservice to our people and to the Senate's institutional role.'

A string of electoral defeats and the great unpopularity of ObamaCare can't stop Democrats from their self-appointed rendezvous with liberal destiny—ramming a bill through Congress on a narrow partisan vote. What we are about to witness is an extraordinary abuse of traditional Senate rules to pass a bill merely because they think it's good for the rest of us, and because they fear their chance to build a European welfare state may never come again.

The vehicle is "reconciliation," a parliamentary process that fast-tracks budget measures and was created in 1974 as a deficit-reduction tool. Limited to 20 hours of debate, reconciliation bills need a mere 50 votes in the Senate, with the Vice President as tie-breaker, thus circumventing the filibuster. Both Democrats and Republicans have frequently used reconciliation on budget bills,

Senate rejects $250 checks for elderly

clipped from news.yahoo.com

WASHINGTON (Reuters) –
A measure to give some 57 million elderly people, veterans and persons with disabilities a $250 check was rejected by the Senate on Wednesday, a setback for the powerful seniors' lobby.

President Barack Obama has called for Congress to approve the payments to make up for their benefits not increasing this year, but the Senate defeated it 50 to 47.

The payments would have added $13 billion to a $108 billion job-creation package pending in the Senate.

Congress approved payments last year as part of the $862 billion stimulus package.

Social Security payments for the elderly and disabled will stay flat this year for the first time since 1975 because they are tied to consumer prices, which decreased amid the worst economic recession in 70 years.

"It is wrong to turn our backs on seniors in this moment of economic difficulty," said Independent Senator Bernie Sanders, who sponsored the amendment.
