Joining All Faiths together. A One World Religion ran by whom? Didn't I see this in a movie once? Revelations maybe?

If Dallas is chosen to host the meeting, what themes would you suggest the international forum focus on? This question seems pertinent to our weekly discussion because we have concentrated the last few months on how to create a genuine religious dialogue AMY MARTIN, Executive Director, Earth Rhythms; Writer/editor, Moonlady Media The Parliament of the World's Religions is a phenomenal grass-roots movement. If the parliament is hosted here, and there is an excellent chance of that, it will be more than a huge religious gathering of over 6,000 people from dozens of religions and faith paths from around the globe. The Parliament of the World's Religions provides an isthmus between the myriad faith paths, a safe and common ground for us to stand in peace and discover our highest common denominators.

Faith leaders advocate climate-change measure

Just so people understand, InterFaith has nothing to do with all Faith leaders. They are trying to create a Global Religion.

clipped from www.istockanalyst.com Leaders of faith communities urged Virginia Sens. Jim Webb and Mark R. Warner yesterday to endorse far-reaching climate change legislation as a moral imperative. The 100 clergy members from Virginia, representing various faiths, said legislation pending in the Senate should call for reducing greenhouse gas emissions by at least 25 percent below 1990 levels by 2020 and by 80 percent by 2050. The Senate may not take up the legislation this year. "In affirming the moral need for climate legislation, we are mindful that this may raise the cost of basic goods," the faith leaders wrote. "So we also ask that any such legislation include social safety-net provisions for families that are already struggling." The signatures were secured by Virginia Interfaith Power & Light, an offshoot of the Virginia Interfaith Center, which lobbies in Richmond, and Greater Washington Interfaith Power & Light.

The new interfaith theologians

clipped from newsweek.washingtonpost.com The conference we were gathered for, "Educating Jewish, Christian & Muslim Leaders for Service in a Multi-Religious World: The American Seminary Context,", felt like it might mark an important moment for the interfaith movement in its own right. It helped our students explore what particularly Christian responses could be to religious diversity and also helped them to press at the questions they felt hadn't been answered. Professor Knitter smiled. "These young people - they're writing the new theologies. They're the new theologians." May it be so: that the young people on the forefront of the interfaith movement today know themselves as the new theologians - and the academics, preachers and teachers - of faith in a diverse world. And may they know the rich legacy of work that comes before them.

105 countries to send reps to interfaith meet in Manila

clipped from www.gmanews.tv At least 105 countries will be represented in the Special Non-Aligned Movement Ministerial Meeting (SNAMMM) on Interfaith Dialogue and Cooperation for Peace and Development in Manila from March 16 to 18. Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Undersecretary Rafael Seguis, who is also NAM National Organizing Committee Secretary General, said the SNAMMM highlights the Philippines' leading role in interfaith dialogue worldwide. "The SNAMMM is the biggest inter-governmental meeting in recent years, and the first of its kind ever to be hosted by the Philippines. It aims to promote interfaith dialogue and cooperation to cultivate a culture of respect, tolerance, understanding and harmony among people of different faiths, cultures and religions," Seguis said in an article on the DFA website. Other NAM member-countries that will be sending high-level representatives include Chile, Korea, Kuwait, Peru, Thailand, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, the United Arab Emirates, Venezuela and Vietnam.
