Sideshow; over Obamas legitimacy continues for some - CNN.com

One day after President Obama released his long-form birth certificate -- to end what he called a distraction of "sideshows" and "carnival barkers" -- some still question his eligibility to serve in the White House.
To be sure, some "birthers" have said that doubts about the president's birthplace are now over. But others are moving on to new conspiracy theories.
Now they're asking: Where are the president's college records, transcripts and financial statements? Where are his passport records? Why isn't information about his law license, or his parents' marriage and divorce, being made public? Was he adopted by his stepfather in Indonesia, negating his "natural-born citizen" status?
And, perhaps most unusually, some are now saying that the birth certificate still does not confirm that the president is eligible to serve in the White House.

"The key thing is not whether or not he was even born in Hawaii, but is he a natural-born citizen according to constitutional standards," Ciavolino told CNN.
"The concept of a natural-born citizen, as laid out in the Constitution, has not been well-defined by the courts at all," he said. Ciavolino questions if the president having an African father and American mother allows him to be president.
The 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution vaguely says that only "natural-born" citizens can become president. But some legal experts say Obama, under accepted legal understanding of the clause, is absolutely a natural-born citizen.

Billionaire real estate developer Donald Trump says he recently was told that President Barack Obama’s birth certificate is missing. While declining to reveal Monday to CNN’s Anderson Cooper how he received the information, Trump said Obama’s lack of a birth certificate would be a shame, since he would like to take the president on “one-on-one.”

“Well, I've been told very recently, Anderson, that the birth certificate is missing,” Trump said in an interview for “Anderson Cooper 360,” to be aired Monday night. “I’ve been told that it’s not there and it doesn’t exist — and if that’s the case it’s a big problem. I’ve just heard that two days ago from someone — I don’t want to say who.

“I’ve been told it’s not there — it’s missing — and I feel badly about that, because I’d love for him to produce his birth certificate so that he can fight one-on-one,” he continued. “If you look at what he’s doing as president with the fuel prices, you can do a great fight one-on-one, you don't need this issue.

“It’s hard to believe he doesn’t produce his birth certificate if he has one; it would be so easy to do.”

Ariz. Senate OKs Presidential Birth Certificate Bill

Image via WikipediaI find it so sad that my children cannot go in to any school without the actual documents to prove they are citzens but the President of the United States don't have to show anything? I mean really? This could have been done and over with already if he would just show real thing nothing but a phone call on his part. Unless? He's got something to hide that is. Arizona Rocks! I'm actually surprise this isn't already in all state laws after all it is the law of the land already according the the Constitution of the United States of America that is.

The battle over presidential candidates' birth certificates took its first legislative turn when Arizona’s Senate approved a bill requiring all presidential candidates to provide documentation proving they Barack Obama, Birth Certificate, Arizona Senate

were born in the United States before getting on the state ballot.

The bill, which passed 20 to 9 on a party-line vote Wednesday, still has to be approved by Arizona's House. A Democrat who voted against the measure claimed that if it becomes law, it is likely to be struck down by the courts, reports the Arizona Daily Star.

The original bill, which would have required presidential candidates to provide their long-form birth certificate, was amended to allow other documents such as baptism, circumcision or hospital birth records.

Article Two of the Constitution requires the president to be a “natural born citizen.” The Arizona bill did not specifically mention President Barack Obama, who has consistently refused to release his long-form certificate. Many Republicans, led by prospective presidential candidate Donald Trump, have cast doubt on Obama’s claim that he was born in Hawaii.

“Three weeks ago when I started, I thought he was probably born in this country,” Trump, who is very publicly mulling his own run for the Republican nomination for president in 2012, told TODAY’s Meredith Vieira. “Right now, I have some real doubts.”
In a wide-ranging interview that aired Thursday, Trump said he is not convinced that the birth certificate that Obama has produced, certified by the state of Hawaii where Obama was born and acknowledged as legitimate by most scholars, is enough proof. He says he has dispatched his own investigators to Hawaii. “I have people that actually have been studying it and they cannot believe what they’re finding,” he said.
“His grandmother in Kenya said he was born in Kenya, and she was there and witnessed the birth. He doesn’t have a birth certificate or he hasn’t shown it,” Trump told Vieira. “He has what’s called a certificate of live birth. That is something that’s easy to get. When you want a birth certificate, it’s hard to get.”
Each state is responsible for issuing its own birth certificates and the state of Hawaii, which issued Obama’s, stands behind it. In many states, this document is referred to as the certificate of live birth. Independent analysts have also confirmed the authenticity of Obama’s birth certificate. Several leading Republicans, including Karl Rove, have dismissed the controversy. Glenn Beck, the conservative television and radio personality, last week accused Trump of taking the birth certificate issue too far. But the so-called “birther movement” has continued to raise questions about the president’s birth. And Trump has enthusiastically joined them.

Japan Hit By 7.3-Magnitude Earthquake

A tsunami alert was issued after northern Japan was hit with a 7.3 magnitude earthquake. Buildings shook hundreds of miles away in Tokyo, but there were no immediate reports of significant damage or injuries.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center warned areas along the coast within 60 miles of the earthquake epicenter to be aware of the possibility of a tsunami and take appropriate action, a statement read.

The US Geological Survey said the quake struck off the east coast of Honshu, some 267 miles northeast of Tokyo, at a depth of 6.2 miles.

A 24-inch tsunami reached the coastal town of Ofunato, in Iwate prefecture, shortly after noon. The meteorological agency warned that a tsunami of about 20 inches would hit the coast.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Hawaii said a Pacific-wide tsunami was not expected.

"We have confirmed that small tsunami have come up on the shores, but we have no reports of damage at this point," said Shinobu Nagano, an emergency and disaster response official in Iwate prefecture. "We are still trying to determine the impact of the quake."

Chilean officials and the U.S. Geological Survey say a magnitude-7.1 quake has shaken southern Chile, sending hundreds fleeing for higher ground for fear that it would generate a tsunami. (Jan. 3)

A magnitude 7.1 earthquake shook southern Chile yesterday, sending thousands fleeing for higher ground in fear of a tsunami like that which ravaged the coastline last year. There were no immediate reports of deaths or damage, and Vicente Nunez, head of the National Emergency Office, said no tsunami alert was issued.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre in Hawaii also said no destructive Pacific Ocean-wide tsunami was expected.
Some mobile phone aerials and electrical power were knocked out in the Araucania region where the quake was centred, 370 miles (595km) south-southwest of the capital, Santiago.

Hawaii Law Shuns Obama Birth Doc Requests

It's now law in Hawaii that the state government can ignore repetitive requests for President Barack Obama's birth certificate.

Republican Gov. Linda Lingle signed into law Wednesday a bill allowing state government agencies not to respond to follow-up requests for information if they determine that the subsequent request is duplicative or substantially similar to a previous request.

The law is aimed at so-called "birthers," who claim Obama is ineligible to be president. They contend the Democratic president was born outside the United States, and therefore doesn't meet a constitutional requirement for being president.

Health Department officials supported the law because the state still gets between 10 and 20 e-mails seeking verification of Obama's birth each week, most of them from outside Hawaii.

Advocates for openness in government oppose the law because they fear it could be used to ignore legitimate requests for information.

DC Knows that Obama is Ineligible for Office

Note that the language which certifies that Barack Hussein Obama meets all constitutional qualifications is missing in the DNC documents filed in 49 of the 50 states. The certification of constitutional qualification for the office of president was filed only in Hawaii. That text is missing in the DNC certification filings for all other states.

Whereas the RNC filed the exact same certification document, including the constitutional text for John McCain in all 50 states, Obama was technically certified in only one state, Hawaii. A mere inconvenient technicality, I’m sure…

Members from all three branches of the Federal government already know that Barack Hussein Obama is ineligible for the office of President. National leaders, to include members of the US Supreme Court, already know that Barack Hussein Obama is not a “natural born citizen” of the United States of America, and therefore, is ineligible for the office he currently holds. What they don’t know is how long it will take for most Americans to figure it out, or what to do about it.

Michelle Obama states that Kenya is Barack’s “home country.” She knows, after twenty years with Barack. The Ambassador or Kenya has confirmed the same His family friends all know it, and are in fact quite proud of the fact that Americans had no hesitation in electing a “black man from Kenya” as President of the United States.

A number of citizens have already been arrested and jailed for asking these questions.

Ariz House: Check Obama's Citizenship

Not sure what makes some people think that a copy of a copy of a birth certificate can be a document. They won't even take copies to let a child into a school. This is the Presidency and should be taken very seriously. Makes you wonder why this was not done in the first place.

PHOENIX -- The Arizona House on Wednesday approved a bill that would require President Barack Obama to show his birth certificate if he hopes to be on the state's ballot when he runs for re-election.

The House approved the measure on a 31-29 vote, sending it to the Senate.

It would require U.S. presidential candidates who want to appear on the ballot in Arizona to submit documents proving they meet the constitutional requirements to be president.

Supporters say the bill would help settle a controversy over whether Obama was born in the United States.

Opponents say it's a waste of time that makes Arizona mocked by the rest of the country. Obama has released his Hawaii birth certificate proving he's a "natural-born citizen" qualified to be president.

States may hold onto tax refunds for months

Residents eager to get their state tax refunds may have a long wait this year: The recession has tied up cash and caused officials in half a dozen states to consider freezing refunds, in one case for as long as five months.

States from New York to Hawaii that have been hard-hit by the economic downturn say they have either delayed refunds or are considering doing so because of budget shortfalls.

"It's an indicator of how bad it is," says Scott Pattison, executive director of the National Association of State Budget Officers. "You know things are bad when you have to do that."

New York, hit with a $9 billion deficit, may delay $500 million in refunds to keep the state from running out of cash, says Gov. David Paterson.

Hawaii's Department of Taxation says some residents may not see state income tax refunds until the end of August,

Earthquake hits off Hawaii's coast

(CNN) -- A 4.4-magnitude earthquake struck Hawaii on Monday evening, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake struck about 6:30 p.m. (11:30 p.m. ET) and was 19.3 miles (31.1 km) deep. The epicenter was 13 miles (20 km) southwest of the coastal region of Laupahoehoe and 189 miles (304 km) east of Honolulu, the USGS said.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

Over 400 people were killed… the bad thing about this earthquake is also that it provoked a Tsunami which was heading in the direction of Hawaii. The good thing is that the damage was minimal. The waves were from 5.5-6.5 feet.
