President Obama is opting not to visit the tornado-ravaged areas of the South, choosing instead to embark today on a three day tour out West where he will try to boost his political standing by talking up his approach to the deficit and raise millions for himself and fellow Democrats.
The tornadoes, part of a storm that rampaged though six states Saturday, resulted in one of the worst disasters of any kind in the United States since the Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Scores were left injured or homeless while 45 people were killed – about four times as many as died in the Gulf oil rig explosion and the subsequent oil spill last year. In North Carolina alone, there were nearly two-dozen storm-related deaths Saturday, with 130 homes destroyed and an estimated 700 more damaged.

Not only is Obama staying away from the region, he has said almost nothing publicly about the tragedy beyond an interview with a North Carolina TV station and a very brief mention at a White House prayer breakfast. The president has failed to make the kind of national, attention-getting public statement presidents offer during crises to comfort victims by expressing the condolences of the nation and to seek charitable aid.
Sunday, he went golfing. On Monday, he did sign a disaster declaration for North Carolina, which will free up federal assistance to the state.
Vice President Biden has also failed to show up. He’s cooling his heels today at home in Wilmington, Delaware. The disaster did not even merit a visit from Secretary of Interior Ken Salazar who – without any apparent irony – was in Boston Tuesday announcing a new wind energy project.
Meanwhile, the South is bracing for more, as forecasters say severe storms and tornadoes could hit the region again today.
Obama’s failure to publicly attend to the fallout from the tornadoes comes on the one-year anniversary of the rig explosion that caused the Gulf oil spill. Obama was roundly criticized then for failing to respond sufficiently to the crisis.
The president’s silence and absence during the current crisis is particularly odd given his political stakes in North Carolina, which barely went for Obama over McCain in 2008. Obama is so desperate to hold the state that he’s chosen to hold the 2012 Democratic convention there, in Charlotte.

Obama Thinks You’re an Idiot: Is He Right? | Vision to America

A liberal E.I. (Educated Idiot) told me this week that her whole family was ready to vote for Obama again, because after all, her grown-up daughters would get their medical care free that way.  Since neither of the college-educated kids have real jobs, even in their late 20s, they will need all the guvmint help they can get.
I swear.  True story.
My friend is an E.I., and so is her whole family.  These are nominally educated folks who fit Obama’s expansive definition of “the rich,” as they will soon find out, when it’s much too late.  But mentally they are deprived, ignorant, superstitious and foolish.  It’s the life choices they’ve made.  They are Obama’s natural prey.
I can’t help thinking that word “idiot” over and over again, as hard as I try to be Politically Correct.  I have compassion for idiots.  I just don’t want to be governed by them, or by the con artists and serial liars they keep voting for.  Bill Clinton.  Barack Obama.  Joe Biden.  Name your own.  It’s obvious by now that Obama doesn’t even bother to memorize his script anymore.  He just tells ‘em anything that pops into his mind, and all the E.I.s instantly bow down and knock their heads in the dirt.  What a brilliant guy this is!
Obama thinks you’re a dumb sucker who will fall for any nonsense syllables he croons in that mellifluous baritone, like Bing Crosby on the radio long ago, and liberals lose all their muscle tone and swoon…the blood drains from their brains…they keel over. “Will somebody help the lady who just fainted in row seven? Give her some air, please…”

Of course everybody will go nuclear, because Obama has let that critical moment in history when nuclear proliferation could be halted slip right by him.  After that we will see a mighty global struggle between radical Islam and Western, Chinese, and Hindu civilization -- it's been going on since Mohammed and the Persians and Byzantines.  We will lose some, we will win some.  I say we go with the modernizing peoples of the world, the ones who are instinctively on the side of rationality, prosperity, and wherever possible, electoral government.  Our standard should not be protecting the Europeans who will not protect themselves.  Instead, we should seek allies in Australia, India, Japan, and maybe Russia and China, depending on how they behave.

If we develop our domestic fuels we don't need the Muslim countries at all.  If we perfect missile defenses we can wall off all the plague bacilli that spread epidemics around the world.

Meanwhile we are stuck with a parasitical population of Educated Idiots, the dumbed-down victims of the welfare state.  It's not their IQ or their formal education.  It's just their lifelong unwillingness to see the world for what it is.  Are we now 51 percent functionally disabled?  Or just 45 percent?

On that question the fate of the United States may rest.

Biden Says Brussels Could Be 'Capital of the Free World'

clipped from www.foxnews.com It's not unheard of for Vice President Biden to get lost in the moment, but during a speech earlier this month to the European Parliament his flattery of the host may have gone a bit overboard, ceding Washington, D.C.'s role as the world's center of liberty.  He suggested that Washington, D.C., his home, is undeserving of that title -- notwithstanding its wealth of global organizations and the countless international summits that take place there.  "As you probably know, some American politicians and American journalists refer to Washington, D.C. as the 'capital of the free world,'" Biden said. "But it seems to me that in this great city, which boasts 1,000 years of history and which serves as the capital of Belgium, the home of the European Union, and the headquarters for NATO, this city has its own legitimate claim to that title."  "We need each other more now than we have ever," Biden said.

Israel should be careful? Why?

The more this news is being pushed around, it's getting to the point where Obama and his friends seem to want to tell Israel what and what not to do. Is it the United States responsibility to tell Israel what to do? Who gave Obama the right to be a bully? Yet, it seems to not just be Israel either.

U.S. Jews to Biden: Leave Jerusalem Alone

Israel OKs 1,600 new homes in east Jerusalem

The Interior Ministry announced the construction plans just as Biden was wrapping up a series of warm meetings with Israeli leaders. There was no immediate reaction from the vice president. Relations between Israel and the Obama administration have been chilly precisely because of the settlement issue. The U.S., like the Palestinians and the rest of the international community, believe that Israeli settlements built on lands claimed by the Palestinians undermine peace prospects, and President Obama has been more outspoken on the issue than his predecessors. Via the WSJ: The European Parliament exercised its new powers Thursday, rejecting a controversial data-sharing deal between the European Union and the U.S., designed to track international financing for terrorism. Several senior U.S. officials, including Vice-President Joe Biden and the secretaries of state and the Treasury, told numerous EU officials, including parliamentarians, “about the importance of this agreement to our mutual security,” the U.S. mission said in a statement. It seems that the EU is more concerned about it’s citizens privacy than Our Own Government. Speaking of privacy… The Obama Justice Department is pushing for warrantless tracking of cell phones. • Obama to Announce New Middle-Class Initiatives

  "WASHINGTON -- President Obama, determined to show he understands middle-class struggles, is offering new initiatives meant to help people pay bills and save for retirement. Obama was ready to announce the new steps Monday in a partial preview of his State of the Union address. The proposals to be unveiled by Obama and Vice President Joe Biden at the White House include a doubling of the child care tax credit for families earning under $85,000; a $1.6 billion increase in federal funding for child care programs and a program to cap student loan payments at 10 percent of income above "a basic living allowance." His initiatives also include expanding tax credits to match retirement savings and increasing aid for families taking care of elderly relatives. That program would also require all employers to provide the option of a workplace-based retirement savings plan. Obama is seeking to offer some attractive options to taxpayers, mindful of recent setbacks including the loss of a traditionally Democratic Senate seat in Massachusetts to Republican Scott Brown. Monday's rollout is designed to show sympathy with a frustrated public. "We are fighting every single day to put Americans back to work," Obama said in a statement released by the White House. The proposals are the result of the work of a middle class task force that Biden had headed. The White House says the proposals are aimed at the "sandwich generation" -- Americans struggling to care for both their children and their parents. The proposals fit into the economic message of his prime-time address to the nation on Wednesday, one that is likely to cover financial regulations, energy, education, immigration and a push to change the political tone in Washington. White House advisers see Wednesday's State of the Union speech as a key opportunity for Obama to recalibrate his message to better connect with the public and to reset his presidency after stinging setbacks.
