Signs Of The Times - UN Vote In Sept Could Divide The World Over Israel

Map of Israel, the Palestinian territories (We...Image via Wikipedia

Israel is gearing up for what could be massive Palestinian protests in September, when the United Nations may move forward with the recognition of a Palestinian state. "The most immediate one is the decision of the Palestinian Authority to reject negotiations with Israel," former Israeli U.N. Ambassador Dore Gold told CBN News.Palestinians want the United Nations to accept them as a member state in September. Gold said they want to use mass demonstrations in the West Bank to challenge Israel.Turning World Opinion"There's a strategy in the field to create an atmosphere of violence that leads TV networks to give it special coverage and forces public opinion, as well as Western governments to shift their position from one of questions about what the Palestinians are doing to strong support for what they're trying to accomplish," Gold explained.

Israeli Messianic leader Chuck Cohen said any such action would be dividing God's land to make an Islamic state in the territory promised to the Jewish people."The Palestinians never had it in the first place, and yet here we are facing this threat," Cohen said. And they want to divide Jerusalem."God is saying, I'm testing your hearts with Jerusalem that I'm giving back to my people," he added. If Israel defies the U.N., author Joel Rosenberg warned that the international community could team up to cut off Israel diplomatically and even economically."Think of what we did with Iraq for example. We built a coalition to cut her off economically and then eventually we sent a military to overthrow a regime," Rosenberg said.Weapons of WarAnd what if Israel agrees to divide its land with the Palestinians?

'Netanyahu has already divided Jerusalem!'
A prominent Israeli activist told participants in the 8th annual Jerusalem Conference on Tuesday that while the world bickers over future control of Jerusalem, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has in fact already divided the city.
Aryeh King of the Israel Land Fund charged that today eight neighborhoods on the eastern side of Jerusalem are off-limits to Jews.
He presented video evidence of Israeli police preventing Jewish motorists from entering the neighborhoods in question. Jews entering these neighborhoods by special permission require an Israeli army escort.
King also noted that Palestinian Authority police officers are operating freely in these neighborhoods with no opposition from Israel.
“The Likud government, the present government of Israel, already divided Jerusalem,” King told Israel National News following the presentation.

What Would a Palestinian State Look Like?

What Would a Palestinian State Look Like?

Be sure to see the link for the rest of the article.
The current peace negotiations are consuming the headlines.& U.S. Envoy George Mitchell is beaming that the parties are getting down to the "core issues" far sooner than he dreamed. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is pinning her reputation on the success of the talks. President Obama seems convinced that solving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict will lead to a peaceful and stable Middle East.
But far less attention is being paid to what a future Palestinian state might look like: the state that's meant to live "side by side with Israel in peace and security."
Today, three items provided clues to the answer.
First, Jerusalem Post Palestinian affairs correspondent Khaled Abu Toameh reported in Monday's paper that the Palestinian Authority affirmed the death penalty for land sales to Israelis.
In case you didn't know, if a Palestinian Arab is caught selling land to an Israeli Jew, he can be executed. Selling land to Jews is considered an act of "national treason." In fact, when an Arab sells land to a Jew in Israel, the contract often includes additional money so the Arab seller can safely leave the area and establish residency in another country. He knows if he stays, his life is in danger. In fact, if you look on the Mount of Olives today, a large Israeli flag flies over one house. It's not far from where thousands of tourists come to overlook the city of Jerusalem. The Arab who sold the building to its Jewish residents was killed for his "crime."
According to Toameh's article - the PA - the future governing body for this proposed Palestinian state, "... on Sunday reaffirmed the death penalty for any Palestinian found guilty of selling land to Israelis.  The decision came in response to a ruling by a Palestinian court according to which such acts were only a 'minor offense.' PA Prosecutor-General Ahmed al-Mughni appealed against the ruling to a higher court, arguing that the sale of land to Israelis was a 'major offense' punishable by death. The appeal was accepted."

Now for those that just don't seem to grasp what is going on with the state of Israel today. Note a chapter written from the Bible over 2000 years ago. Are we actually seeing these Prophecies happening right in front of our eyes? Not just that. Is the Christian Church awake enough to realize what is happening?

1 Thessalonians 5

The Day of the Lord
1 But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. 2 For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. 3 For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. 4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. 5 You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. 7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night. 8 But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation. 9 For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.
11 Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.
Various Exhortations

12 And we urge you, brethren, to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, 13 and to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. Be at peace among yourselves.
14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all. 15 See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all.
16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
19 Do not quench the Spirit. 20 Do not despise prophecies. 21 Test all things; hold fast what is good. 22 Abstain from every form of evil.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu told the Council of Foreign Relations in New York on Thursday that all core issues could be discussed in direct negotiations, and that if it were up to him, a peace deal with the Palestinians could be signed by the end of 2011.
"If it's up to me, we'll have an agreement," Netanyahu said.

Abbas Wants NATO Troops in Future State

JERUSALEM - The Palestinian Authority is considering allowing the permanent stationing of NATO forces in the future Palestinian state, London-based pan-Arab daily Al-Quds al-Arabi reported Palestinian sources saying Wednesday.

The NATO forces would be able to prevent arms smuggling into the future state and to monitor that it would remain demilitarized.

Under any peace agreement likely to be formulated between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, Israel would expect the Palestinian entity to remain demilitarized.

The Palestinian Authority will also ask NATO and the US to commit to “defending the Palestinian state from Israel," were relations to break down and were Israel to threaten the future Palestinian state with invasion, the report said.

Meanwhile, PLO general-secretary Yasser Abed Rabbo said on Wednesday that Israel was not interested in negotiations and would do everything to derail them as soon as possible, Israel Radio reported.

Palestinians 'pleased' with Obama

clipped from www.wnd.com

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Obama
JERUSALEM – In an unprecedented move, the U.S. has been conducting negotiations with Israel on behalf of the Palestinian Authority, according to a senior PA negotiator and sources in the Israeli government.

The U.S. has been calling for the resumption of indirect talks, with Obama administration officials publicly proposing to serve as a go-between to facilitate dialogue between Israel and the PA.

A senior PA negotiator, speaking on condition of anonymity, said rather than act as an intermediary, the U.S. has been negotiating with Israel on behalf of the PA, assuming all Palestinian positions and bargaining with Israel from the Palestinian side.

Yesterday, Israel's Haaretz newspaper quoted confidants to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stating the Israeli leader told them he would oppose attempts to impose a peace plan on Israel.

Israeli-Palestinian peace process at critical stage, Arab leaders say

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas warned Saturday that peace talks would not move forward "as long as Israel maintains its settlement policy," continuing the rift in the region that began this month with Israel's intent to build housing in disputed territory.

The remarks came at the Arab Summit in the Libyan city of Sirte, where many leaders echoed Abbas' views.

"It's time to face Israel. We have to have alternative plans because the situation has reached a turning point," Moussa said.

The conference -- titled "Summit for Supporting a Steadfast Jerusalem" -- gathered 14 Arab heads of state, the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and Italian Prime Minister Slivio Berlusconi, among other guests.

"For too long our opponents have been able to talk about international law without being held to account," Ayalon said. "We say strongly and firmly that we have a legal right to build in Jerusalem. ...

America’s shiny new Palestinian militia

clipped from www.jpost.com
The stupidest program the US government has ever undertaken”; that’s how I last year called American efforts to improve the Palestinian Authority military force. Slightly hyperbolic, yes, but the description fits because those efforts enhance the fighting power of enemies of the US and its Israeli ally.
Shortly after Yasser Arafat died in late 2004, the US government established the Office of the US Security Coordinator to reform, recruit, train
and equip the PA militia (called the National Security Forces or Quwwat al-Amn al-Watani) and make them politically accountable.
The PA militia has in total about 30,000 troops, of which four battalions comprising 2,100 troops have passed scrutiny for lack of criminal or terrorist ties and undergone 1,400 hours of training at an American facility in Jordan. There they study subjects ranging from small-unit tactics and crime-scene investigations to first aid and human rights law.

Arab Protesters Leave Temple Mount, Muslims Call for War

Arabs attacks police with rocks on Sunday

(IsraelNN.com) Twenty Arabs, who had barricaded themselves on a Temple Mount mosque since Saturday, left the holy site on Sunday after police took the unusual action of entering the controversial area. Seven Arabs were arrested, and four policemen were lightly injured by rock-throwing protesters.

As quiet returned to the Temple Mount, louder voices escalated the Arab war of words that included incitement for more violence. The Qatari daily Al-Watan called for a new Palestinian Authority-led Intifada with the support of Muslim countries.

The Hamas minister of religious affairs urged violence to “protect our Islamic holy places” from Jewish claims. Nabil Abu Rdainah, an aide to PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, accused Israel of preventing the PA from resuming talks on establishing a new PA state and trying to “affect the American efforts and destroy them.”

An Arab Muslim cleric from Jerusalem accused “extremist groups” of “storming” the Temple Mount.

U.S. Jews to Biden: Leave Jerusalem Alone

Jerusalem

(IsraelNN.com) The veteran United States-based Young Israel movement condemned U.S. Vice President Biden on Thursday, telling Biden to leave Jerusalem alone. The American vice president had condemned Israel's decision to allow Jews to build in historic Jerusalem, in an area that has been annexed by Israel but is claimed by the Palestinian Authority.

"We strongly 'condemn' Vice President Biden's statements and respectfully urge him to rescind his incendiary remarks about Jerusalem,” said Young Israel President Shlomo Mostofsky.

"The reality is that there is no such entity as 'East Jerusalem,' there is only Jerusalem, which is the united capital of Israel,” Mostofsky continued. “Only Israel can make determinations regarding Jerusalem's future expansion and development.”

"Instead of pandering to terrorists, the Vice President should have told the PA to amend its charter, stop preaching hatred in their schools and mosques, and immediately halt all plans for terrorist attacks,”

Secret Obama deal for Palestinian state?

clipped from www.wnd.com

TEL AVIV – The U.S. is considering adopting a unilateral Palestinian declaration of independence in the West Bank and Jerusalem regardless of negotiations with the Jewish state, according to Israeli sources speaking to Israel's Haaretz newspaper.

WND first reported in September that according to a top Palestinian Authority official, the Obama administration has largely adopted the positions of the PA to create a Palestinian state within two years based on the pre-1967 borders, meaning Israel would retreat from most of the West Bank and eastern sections of Jerusalem.

WND reported that the White House had accepted the positions of Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad, who had quietly called for a state on the pre-1967 borders within two years.

Now Haaretz is quoting reports indicating that Fayyad has reached a secret understanding with the Obama administration over U.S. recognition of an independent Palestinian state.
