Televangelist Juanita Bynum Christians Debate on Tongues Prayer on Facebook

A typical Western image of the Pentecost. Ducc...Image via WikipediaI found this to be a very interesting Story. Typing in Tongues? Whether or not it is possible remains to be seen. After all the Bible does tell us about every Idol word we say is held accountable.

Matthew 12
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew%2012&version=NKJV
33 “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit. 34 Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. 35 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart[g] brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. 36 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. 37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

The issue of Tongues have been going on for many, many years now. In fact, all the way back to time the Disciples were in the upper room praying shortly after The Christ (Messiah) was crucified and rose from the dead while hundreds of people watched.
Many Churches throughout history try very hard to avoid Tongues in Scripture. Probably because many just don't understand it.

Simply put it's just your Spirit talking with God Himself all through the Holy Spirit, (The Comforter) through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ himself. (Still don't make sense?) Its an easy way for men and women to talk with God in words that we in our own language cannot describe. Yes, mankind does not have words for everything. Especially when it comes to spiritual things.

Take a look at what happened when it all started Acts 1
Read all of it here. (note this is only one of the books that speak about this.)
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts%201&version=NKJV

1 The former account I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, 2 until the day in which He was taken up, after He through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen, 3 to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.

As they continue on, This was asked

6 Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me[a] in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

9 Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, 11 who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”

The document continues on about what they were going through at this time, Many confused yet still waiting. Finally as the next chapter comes into play something happened. TONGUES?

Acts 2
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts+2&version=NKJV
1 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord[a] in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

When this happen many understood what they said while many others sat around saying they were all drunk and out of their minds.  (This has not changed in over 2000 years)

Be sure to read the full chapter for more about what happened on this day. The key to all this is what happened here.

41 Then those who gladly[g] received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.

Today, Many still do there best to poke fun at those who speak in Tongues. Many churches ban this from being in there Churches. While many others believe it of the Devil. I've seen many try to teach all this by jumping around the Bible instead of reading the entire chapters as a whole. I'm not quite sure how anyone can tell what a whole book says by reading a couple of sentences from it. Yet this is the way they teach while many follow.

Read the full chapters here. I cannot say whether or not we can type in Tongues. But, with God? All things are possible. My own personal thoughts? I think it's awesome. I love meeting people who speak in Tongues. This makes it much to know they do even ONLINE.

I don't condemn them for it. But I do find it very interesting to see in an online community that loves the try teach us there is no God. This goes to show. God's people will do what God calls them to do now matter what you have to say about it. I love it.

Pentecostal televangelist and self-professed prophetess Juanita Bynum has sparked curiosity among some Internet users and the Christian community for several comments on the minister's Facebook page where she appears to type "in tongues."

  • Pentecostal minister Juanita Bynum has raised brows over prayers posted on her Facebook page where the minister appears to pray
In a series of posts published on Aug. 17, on one of Bynum's many Facebook pages, the minister typed messages where it was believed by commenters and critics that the she was praying in tongues.

In the first message time stamped 3:57 p.m., it appeared that Juanita Bynum II, the account holder for the Facebook page, started praying for Zachery Tims, the Florida megachurch minister who was found dead in a New York City hotel room on Aug. 12:

GOD WE PRAY FOR THE DESTINY CHURCH FAMILY....WE PRAY FOR THE STRENGTH OF PASTOR RIVA TIMS....MIGHTY GOD...GIVE US STRENGTH.....WE ARE THE BODY THAT FEELS THIS PAIN.....WE ALL FEEL IT.....COVER THE MINDS OF HIS CHILDREN...GRAB THEM UP IN YOUR ARMS LORD JESUS......BE A COMFORT TO THEM.....YOU ARE THE MANY BREASTED ONE....

The prayer continued in a second post with the same time stamp:

YOU ARE THE ROCK AND THE SHIELD AND THE ANCHOR.......WARD OFF ALL THE VULCHERS...WHO WILL COME FOR GREEDY GAIN AND NOT BE CONCERNED ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO ARE HURTING IN THAT CHURCH......SEND THEM HELP FATHER...SEND THEM SPIRITUAL HELP THAT WOULD HELP TO HEAL THEM AND RESTORE THEIR LEGS IN YOU GOD!!!!!
Like us on Facebook
In the third post, published about a minute later, the "tongues" text started to appear:
GIRD THEM UP IN THE SPIRIT...GIVE THEM A MIND TO PRAY LIKE NEVER BEFORE....WE CALL ON YOU JESUS....YOU ARE OUR HELP AND OUR HOPE!!!!!!!!NDHDIUBGUGTRUCGNRTUGTIGRTIGRGBNRDRGNGGJNRIC YOU ARE OUR HELP AND OUR HOPE....RFSCNGUGHURGVHKTGHDKUNHSTNSVHGN YOU GOD......YOU ARE OUR HELP AND OUR HOPE!!!!!! OUR HOPE IS IN YOU FATHER......OUR STRENGTH FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS IS IN YOU FATHER......HELP US NOW......LORD WE DONT ASK FOR HELP FOR JUST THEM....THIS IS US....THIS IS A PART OF OUR OWN BODY.....

Several prayer posts with intelligible spellings continued to appear and visitors to Bynum's Facebook page began questioning the text.
Bynum's prayer posts soon caught the attention of the media, with one reporter at a spirituality and faith website speculating that the minister was communicating "in tongues."

On one prayer post, visitor Cindy McCraw commented, expressing her agreement.
"I believe it's tongues (holy spirit). It's called praying in the Spirit," McCraw wrote.
Another visitor to the page expressed disbelief.
"Are you typing tongues? Or are my eyes playing tricks on me," questioned Damita Stargell.

Since the prayer posts have appeared, visitors have been debating whether it was possible for a Christian to write or type in tongues, since the Bible only depicts those inspired by the Holy Spirit speaking in tongues.

New Control Over Privacy on Facebook

Image representing Facebook as depicted in Cru...Image via CrunchBase Why do I post things like this? Simple to help others wake up and see what it going on in the world. It's to help those who actually read it see the reality of many subjects that are not talked about much either online or on the news. But, most of all to grab the attention of these places and people to hopefully get results that we need.

I saw this article today and have to say. It's good to see people actually paying attention out there. Yet somehow I thought Google would have listened as well. But to see Facebook actually making changes. I'm impressed. Looks like some actually do listen. It's good to see results. Though it may not be enough, It's a good start. Now if only Google plus would listen as well.

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/New-Control-Over-Privacy-on-nytimes-2340101277.html?x=0&.v=2
Privacy worries have bedeviled Facebook since its early days, from the introduction of the endless scroll of data known as the news feed to, most recently, the use of facial recognition technology to identify people in photographs.
At the nub of all those worries, of course, is how much people share on Facebook, with whom and — perhaps most important — how well they understand the potential consequences.
The company has struggled to find a balance between giving users too little control over privacy and giving them too much, for fear they won’t share much at all. Seeking a happy medium, Facebook announced changes on Tuesday that it says will help users get a grip on what they share.
When the changes are introduced on Thursday, every time Facebook users add a picture, comment or any other content to their profile pages, they can specify who can see it: all of their so-called Facebook friends, a specific group of friends, or everyone who has access to the Internet. These will be indicated by icons that replace the current, more complicated padlock menu.
Similar controls will apply to information like users’ phone numbers and hometowns and whether they like, say, death metal bands, on their profile pages. Users will no longer have to seek out a separate privacy page to tweak who sees how much of that personal information. Nor will they have to bother to remember what those settings were.
Company officials say they hope the changes will simplify the process of establishing who knows what about your life on the Internet — and hopefully, save a few people the embarrassment of unwittingly sharing too much.

Of course I still trying to figure out how most of these plan to investigate themselves being that they are all part of the same group. For those that don't know may want to look at many posts I've done on here before about them.
But, Even the New York Times picked up on it. I'm Impressed.

Facebook ‘Face Recognition’ Feature Draws Privacy Scrutiny

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/09/technology/09facebook.html
BRUSSELS (Bloomberg News) — European Union data protection regulators said on Wednesday that they would investigate Facebook over a feature that uses face-recognition software to suggest people’s names to tag in pictures without their permission, and a privacy group in the United States said that it planned to file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission over the feature.
A group of privacy watchdogs drawn from the European bloc’s 27 nations will study the measure for possible rule violations, said GĂ©rard Lommel, a Luxembourg member of the so-called Article 29 Data Protection Working Party. Authorities in Britain and Ireland said they are also looking into the photo-tagging function on the world’s most popular social networking service.
“Tags of people on pictures should only happen based on people’s prior consent and it can’t be activated by default,” said Mr. Lommel. Such automatic tagging suggestions “can bear a lot of risks for users” and the European data protection officials will “clarify to Facebook that this can’t happen like this.”
I will soon have more on this information soon. Why. Because people need to know about it.

Why Facebook Facial Recognition Should Scare You

How Good is iPhoto Facial Recognition?Image by mcritz via FlickrFact, throughout my studies of this software it constantly brings me to same exact spot. This is extremely dangerous for anyone who uses this tech. I know of several people who have been victims in the past. Not just from ex's but also many who have been raped or involved with very bad organizations that could bring serous harm to themselves or their families.
I had recently joined Google Plus as well. Up until they brought out a Real name policy.
You can see it here. http://www.google.com/support/+/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1228271
Yet so many people on there are helping pushing this idea, totally ignoring the dangers this involves to people like I mention about. I'm not talking a couple of people, I mean thousands are supporting the idea of real names and calling those who don't use them Trolls. This shows me a lot about how misinformed the general public is about what they are pushing.
At this point I'm find Google plus to be even more dangerous to people than Facebook is. Those who know me, know that's a big deal for me to say. Here is more info to check out as well.

Why Facebook Facial Recognition Should Scare You

COLUMN: Facebook threatens to make your face your identity and connect it to any other information you give to the social network.

You might think Facebook’s facial recognition feature isn’t so bad right now.  After all, it’s only an auto-suggestion among friends to tag your photo.  Also, you can ‘opt out’ of this function (i.e. not allow Facebook to auto-suggest your name to your friends).
However, the real danger is in the existence of Facebook’s facial identity database.
Why is that bad? Consider this scenario.
A bunch of protestors march down the main street in the capital city.  The secret police takes a photo of the group. They identify these individuals through Facebook’s recognition system.   Next morning, they round these people up and ‘disappear’ them.
But wait a minute, wouldn’t Facebook refuse to divulge that information?  That’s probably true, but it doesn’t mean governments can’t access it.
When Facebook facial recognition gears up, governments can easily infiltrate Facebook networks with moles, especially considering the indiscriminate way many Facebook users accept friend request.
In fact, the moles don’t even have to be real people; the US government is already successfully tracking suspected criminals through fake Facebook accounts.
There is also straight up hacking, which repressive governments are not shy to do. Finally, ten years from now, who knows how cooperative Facebook will become towards heavy-handed regimes?
While opting out of Facebook’s features protects you from moles, it won’t protect you from hacking and Facebook choosing to turn over your information.
I used repressive government regimes as an example, but this applies to all sorts of people, organizations, and situations.
Before, you couldn’t be identified as long as you don’t provide your name or don’t leave any ID.  Now, you could be through a simple picture of you taken by a camera phone.  From there, your phone number, address, email, place of employment, the identities of your family members, and any other information you give to Facebook could be accessed.
The point is that Facebook is building a facial database that’s far from secure.  Ironically, it’s an issue of ‘opting in’ in the physical space.
In modern society, it’s necessary to have identifications.  Before, you control whether or not you identify yourself in the physical world.  Now, if Facebook has its way, it’ll only take the showing of your face.
Now take the Real Name added to this technology. It seems I'm not the only one that went through this. Yet Thousand of people still don't see the danger in having your Real name attached to your Real Photo with Facial Recognition open to the public World Wide?
Here's danah boyd in very good form, explaining why "Real Name" policies like the one Google has rammed down Google Plus users' throats (and like the insanely naive one that Randi Zuckerberg would like to foist on the entire Internet) are an abuse of power: Over and over again, people keep pointing to Facebook as an example where “real names” policies work. This makes me laugh hysterically. One of the things that became patently clear to me in my fieldwork is that countless teens who signed up to Facebook late into the game chose to use pseudonyms or nicknames. What’s even more noticeable in my data is that an extremely high percentage of people of color used pseudonyms as compared to the white teens that I interviewed. Of course, this would make sense…
The people who most heavily rely on pseudonyms in online spaces are those who are most marginalized by systems of power. “Real names” policies aren’t empowering; they’re an authoritarian assertion of power over vulnerable people. These ideas and issues aren’t new (and I’ve even talked about this before), but what is new is that marginalized people are banding together and speaking out loudly. And thank goodness.
Again now take a good long read at this technology and what it can do. Here is a pdf file you can save for future use.

Privacy Risks Increase as Facial Recognition Technology Improves

http://www.tmcnet.com/topics/articles/203622-privacy-risks-increase-as-facial-recognition-technology-improves.htm
By Ed Silverstein, TMCnet Contributor

Facial recognition is an Internet feature which is growing in popularity. But while Facebook and Google (News - Alert) are expanding facial recognition options – researchers from Carnegie Mellon University are warning about the dangers it poses to privacy.

Several Carnegie Mellon researchers were able to ID some one-third of the subjects they tested, using a photo and facial-recognition technology from Google.
Alarmingly, one of lead researchers, Alessandro Acquisti, said that 27% of the time, using data from the subjects’ Facebook (News - Alert) profiles, they could correctly identify the first five digits of the subject’s Social Security numbers, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal.
“Two experiments demonstrated the ability of identifying strangers online (on a dating site where individuals protect their identities by using pseudonyms) and offline (in a public space), based on photos made publicly available on a social network site,” Acquisti wrote on his website. “A third … experiment illustrated the ability of inferring strangers' personal or sensitive information (their interests and Social Security numbers) from their faces, by combining face recognition, data mining algorithms, and statistical re-identification techniques.”
The results of the study raise many issues on “the future of privacy in an ‘augmented’ reality world in which online and offline data will seamlessly blend,” he said.

Be sure to check out all the links about for everything said in these article. If you haven't been paying attention to this stuff. You may want to start and begin taking action against this tech being used against your rights and privacy.

How Dangerous Is Facebook's Facial Recognition Software? | IdeaFeed | Big Think

facial recognition systemImage by city burns via FlickrThe more and more I have studied on this, the more I have found that this could be a very dangerous system of technology. That most people don't seem to think about. I know several people, I mean hundreds that the last thing they need is thier past to catch up to them to literally ruin thier lives. This tech and the new internet regulations will put many of these people in serious danger.
To be able to take a picture of someone walking down the street, and then to find them on either Facebook or Google plus in and instant, find out who they are and follow thier every move. Is this dangerous or not? People need to wake up and think about this.

Face_recognition
What's the Latest Development?
Rather than laboriously tagging photos of your friends, Facebook released facial recognition software last winter that makes educated guesses about who is in your photos. Rolling out the software slowly and allowing users to opt out quelled criticism but a new study from Carnegie Mellon "finds that the technology can help researchers locate people's social security numbers, just from the information on their Facebook profiles and their photo." With a 30 percent success rate, researchers were able to find the last five digits of an individual's social security number.
What's the Big Idea?
Facebook has become notorious for its violations of privacy, simultaneously earning it the status of the world's most loved and hated website. Because most people on Facebook use their real identity, the social networking platform has become a powerful identification tool. And while we are accustomed to thinking about Internet privacy as regards our online lives, given advances in programs like facial recognition software, we should consider how online privacy will affect our real lives. Facebook currently faces legislation over giving user data to advertisers.

The Dangers of Using High Tech Facial Recognition Software to Catch Criminals

http://www.ghacks.net/2011/08/14/the-dangers-of-using-high-tech-facial-recognition-software-to-catch-criminals/
In light of the rioting in London, British police have been using CCTV in combination with facial-recognition software footage in order to identify and separate the criminal elements in the crowd. The article goes on to speculates on the need of creating a database for “confirmed” faces (primarily faces that can be linked to an identity). The article even illuminates the issue of quality control and some of the problems that lighting, distance, and clarity plays in distorting and inevitably making it harder to match. With facial recognition technology commonly found in television and movies unavailable, combined with the likely chance to misidentify individual (which could also be used to benefit criminals); it seems that British officials have the daunting task ahead of them. Also police fear that people who resemble rioters (solely the images) may be in danger

Dangers Of Facebook Face Recognition On Picture Uploads

Dangers Of Facebook Face Recognition On Picture Uploads
Ok, I think this is one of the more problematic features of Facebook with dramatic potential of invading your privacy much more than you ever wanted. Facebook is activating face recognition for photos that users upload to their Facebook profiles. And as always, Facebook is activating this feature by default and the user has to turn it off afterwards.

I don’t care what everyone does on Facebook, I do not use it for me personally. However, I think there are quite a few privacy issues involved in this one. What if somebody uploads a picture of a group of people and the software recognizes you even though you do not want to be recognized and name tagged? I mean, how do we know what happens down the road with this type of information?! The invasion of our privacy is immense and profiling and tracking of people can be become a huge issue. We’re already being tracked with the cell phones that we carry around. Now imagine you are walking through a subway station one day and the same software that recognized you on Facebook connects to the camera system in public places. Yes, I know it is a long stretch, but think more like “Big Brother” scenarios. Right now it is just Facebook. Other companies are doing the same thing. They are not connected today, they might be connected tomorrow.
And still more to come on this subject. If you don't see a link yet go to the home page to read more.

Facebook's facial recognition system, why it's scary

Oh, iPhoto, your facial misrecognition antics ...Image by Chris Devers via FlickrI'm going to be posting several posts on this information. Somthing I feel could possibly bring some very dangerous outcomes to many people who don't pay attention to this.
Not out of fear, but so that you the general person may be informed on what is really happening with this technology. Be sure to check out all the links and more will be posted on the home page at the top as well.
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-501465_162-20088678-501465.html
(CBS) - Remember last weekend, when you were at that party and friends were snapping photographs to post on Facebook? What if that seemingly innocent act could lead to identity theft or real-life stalking? Fear!
In a recent study done at Heinz College, Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) called "Faces of Facebook: Privacy in the Age of Augmented Reality," Alessandro Acquisti, Ralph Gross and Fred Stutzman reported on the "consequences and implications of the convergence of three technologies: face recognition, cloud computing, and online social networks."
Presented on Thursday at the Black Hat Technical Security Conference, the study argued that with current technology, we could be "re-identified" and have our social security numbers stolen. The three experiments discussed are eye-opening.
Facial recognition and re-identification
The first experiment took pictures from a popular dating site and cross referenced them with Facebook profile pictures. Dating site members typically maintain their anonymity by using pseudonyms. With the results of the experiment being "statistically significant," these people could easily be identified with the software.Thus their identities outed across both channels.
The second experiment was similar to the first, except this time, the researchers took real-life photos and used facial recognition software to re-identify students at a select college campus. They were able to identify one-third of the subjects in their experiment.
Augmented reality
In their final experiment, the researchers used the phrase "augmented reality" to describe "the merging of online and offline data that new technologies make possible."
The study's goal was to show "that it is possible to start from an anonymous face in the street, and end up with very sensitive information about that person." The results were "made possible by the convergence of face recognition, social networks, data mining and cloud computing - that [is referred] to as augmented reality."
(Credit: AP Photo/Gerry Broome)
For example, once a photo is snapped on the street, facial recognition software can be run to identify a person online. Some data mining could possibly uncover the city and year the subject was born. A little knowledge of how social security numbers get assigned will enable identity thieves to narrow down the range of numbers to work with.

The Dangers of Using High Tech Facial Recognition Software to Catch Criminals

http://www.ghacks.net/2011/08/14/the-dangers-of-using-high-tech-facial-recognition-software-to-catch-criminals/
In the wake of rioting in London, England, the British police are turning to CCTV footage in an attempt to capture the ringleaders involved in the rioting and troublemaking. With the advances of high-tech facial recognition software used in airports to identify people at immigration, they say it should be possible to match up faces with know criminals and troublemakers. But will it be that easy?
There are attempts being used, albeit private sector attempts, to try and use this software and match people with that of criminal records and known photographs of perpetrators, but it’s not altogether that simple really, because in order to do facial recognition you already need a database of confirmed photos, with names attached to them. You can’t simply look at a photograph and work out who it is, and you must of course have something to compare the CCTV footage with.
The other issue is the quality of the photograph you’re trying to compare from. There is a huge difference between a photo of someone staring straight at a camera with a plain background, and another which is slightly misty and possibly from a significant distance away, plus the fact that many rioters in London wore masks to cover parts of their faces. It actually turns out to be very difficult indeed to match these kinds of photos, and as of yet the technology seen on sci-fi movies where you can enhance pictures to extraordinary degrees is not available. Unfortunately real life isn’t quite like that, so the dodgy quality CCTV footage the police have may not be entirely reliable and open to interpretation. Certainly in a court of law, a fuzzy picture may not stand up on it’s own without other evidence to support it, such as eyewitnesses. So if we have to rely on eyewitnesses to get a conviction, we’re really back to square one.
Again see more here. http://www.ghacks.net/2011/08/14/the-dangers-of-using-high-tech-facial-recognition-software-to-catch-criminals/
What is Facial Recognition?
http://www.face-rec.org/general-info/
A general statement of the face recognition problem (in computer vision) can be formulated as follows: Given still or video images of a scene, identify or verify one or more persons in the scene using a stored database of faces.
Research directions (according to Face Recognition Vendor Test - FRVT 2002):
  • Recognition from outdoor facial images.
  • Recognition from non-frontal facial images.
  • Recognition at low false accept/alarm rates.
  • Understanding why males are easier to recognize than females.
  • Greater understanding of the effects of demographic factors on performance.
  • Development of better statistical methods for understanding performance.
  • Develop improved models for predicting identification performance on very large galleries.
  • Effect of algorithm and system training on covariate performance.
  • Integration of morphable models into face recognition performance.
  • Understanding the video sequences in FRVT 2002 did not improve performance.
Since the former Face Recognition Homepage of Peter Kruizinga is no longer active and we believe that face recognition is an important research area, we wanted to give prospective researchers a place to start on the Internet. Our Face Recognition Homepage aims to provide scientists with the relevant information in the area of face recognition. This page is intended to be an information pool for the face recognition community. Its goal is to provide an entry point for novices as well as a centralized information resource to concentrate face recognition and related scientific efforts.
The materials currently published on the web-site are what we believe every researcher in this area should read. Web-site is designed to be a portal, so you will notice numerous links to other research groups, links to relevant journals, books, databases etc. Another issue also worth mentioning is that this is a non-commercial, purely academic web-site.
On this Face Recognition Homepage you can find:
  1. some general information about face recognition problems;
  2. information about all changes on this Face Recognition Homepage;
  3. links to research groups that work in the area of face recognition;
  4. link to Face Recognition Research Community newsgroup (established in January 2007), where researchers can post questions and exchange ideas;
  5. interesting papers that deal with the face recognition (general papers, standards, cognitive vision / psychology / neuroscience papers, highly cited papers, published items vs. citations);
  6. new papers with most recent advances (the state-of-the-art) in face recognition;
  7. face databases often used by researchers;
  8. face recognition algorithms (image-based and video based) with a few most representative papers for each algorithm;
  9. source codes contributed by users (Matlab, C/C++, Java);
  10. list of conferences, where face recognition is the conference topic;
  11. links to high impact factor journals which scope covers face recognition; information about some journal special issues; books on face recognition; other related books;
  12. links to vendors developing face recognition technology;
  13. other related links;
  14. contact information.

Well a lot of people don’t like the idea of a corporation keeping tabs on most of your internet activity which they can tie to your identity and sell or hand over to a governmental agency. You don’t need to be doing something wrong to enjoy your privacy.I think of it like this: no one says “why do you have blinds on the windows of your home? Do you have something to hide?” http://endthelie.com/2011/07/28/a-quick-foolproof-guide-to-hinder-google-from-tracking-your-internet-activity/#axzz1Tiv0Dodi

Thom Hartmann, author Neil Howe discussed how he and William Strauss came to accurately predict today’s political crisis in their 1997 book “The Fourth Turning,” and offered speculation as to what might happen next.The two essentially agreed that the United States may be in for a series of events on the magnitude of the revolution, civil war or great depression.Speaking of the generational differences between today’s new guard and the retiring baby boomers, Howe said that cultural forces have essentially forced this crisis, with “culture warriors” and “values voters” in direct contention with “gen x” for control of the national budget.

Syrian tanks firing shells and machineguns stormed the city of Hama on Sunday, killing at least 80 civilians in a move to crush demonstrations against President Bashar al-Assad's rule, rights activists and residents said.
The Associated Press, meanwhile, reported that at least 49 people have been killed in Hama. Syrian authorities have expelled most independent journalists since the unrest began in March, making it difficult to verify reports of violence and casualties.

The FBI is opening up a probe into an alleged police brutality cover-up in Tennessee. Darren Ring suffered four cracked ribs and a punctured lung after Tennessee police stripped him naked, beat him in the snow and used pepper spray and a Taser on him. Ring spent five months behind bars after the event.
Now his court-appointed defense attorney has obtained 22 minutes of raw footage taken from a police car that night. Once the footage surfaced, charges were dropped against Ring. His attorney, however, says that the Tennessee police
filed false charges against his client in order to cover up their own actions.
