Immigration Hits Home for Young Girl and First Lady Michelle Obama

I find it amazing that more people including the children are finally waking up to what the Government is planning on Immigration. I wish they would have asked about the Biometric ID Card but we can see even the kids a becoming aware of what is happening.

The student shyly raised her hand and said, "My mom ... she says that Barack Obama is taking everybody away that doesn't have papers." Mrs. Obama replied:"Yeah, well that's something that we have to work on, right? To make sure that people can be here with the right kind of papers, right? That's exactly right." The girl then said quietly, "But my mom doesn't have any ..." and trailed off. Mrs. Obama replied: "Well, we have to work on that. We have to fix that, and everybody's got to work together in Congress to make sure that happens. That's right."

Nancy Pelosi asks the Catholic church to preach in favor of amnesty for illegal aliens

clipped from americaswatchtower.com   Nancy Pelosi has gone on record as saying that she has talked to Catholic leaders about immigration reform and has asked them to speak from the pulpit in favor of passing amnesty for illegal aliens because it “is a manifestation of our living the gospels.” I would hope that there’s one thing that we can do working together as we go forward that speaks to what the Bible tells us about the dignity and worth of every person — and that is on the subject of immigration,” Pelosi said in her remarks. “Because I think the Church is going to have to play a very major role in how we, in how people are treated.” “The cardinals, the archbishops, the bishops that come to me and say, ‘We want you to pass immigration reform,’” disclosed Pelosi. “And I say, ‘But I want you to speak about it from the pulpit.’ to the Catholic church, whatever happened to the separation of church and state that the liberals have somehow written into the constitution?

Democrats: BELIEVE in biometric Social Security cards

clipped from www.thirdfactor.com There are varying reports on whether immigration reform will be discussed in Congress in 2010, but if it is addressed one aspect that will likely be included is a biometric Social Security card for employment verification. Dubbed Biometric Enrollment, Locally-stored Information, and Electronic Verification of Employment, or BELIEVE, the card would be required to verify permanent residence when starting a new job. The Democrat-sponsored proposal would have the Social Security Administration issuing biometric cards 18 months after the law is passed. “These cards will be fraud-resistant, tamper-resistant, wear resistant, and machine-readable social security cards containing a photograph and an electronically coded micro-processing chip which possesses a unique biometric identifier for the authorized card-bearer,” states the conceptual proposal for immigration reform. The card would replace Homeland Security’s E-Verify system

Obama: Ariz. immigration measure 'misguided'

clipped from www.google.com PHOENIX — President Barack Obama called an Arizona immigration bill "misguided" Friday and said it could violate people's civil rights, intensifying pressure on the state's Republican governor to veto the nation's toughest legislation against illegal immigration. Obama said he's instructed the Justice Department to examine the Arizona bill to see if it's legal, and said the federal government must enact immigration reform at the national level — or leave the door open to "irresponsibility by others." She's under intense pressure from anti-illegal immigration groups and lawmakers in her own party to sign the bill, but has given no indication what she will do. Civil rights activists have said the bill would lead to racial profiling and deter Hispanics from reporting crimes. Hundreds of Hispanics protested the legislation at the State Capitol complex on Thursday. The bill would take effect 90 days after the current legislative session ends if it becomes law.

Groups Call On Policymakers To Reject Biometric Cards

clipped from techdailydose.nationaljournal.com A coalition of more than 40 privacy and civil liberties groups late Tuesday asked President Obama and key lawmakers to reject a proposal to require U.S. and foreign workers to have a card continuing biometric information, such as fingerprints, in order to work in the United States. The groups, which include the American Library Association and Americans for Tax Reform, oppose a provision that Sens. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y. and Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., plan to put in a bill to overhaul the nation's immigration laws. Schumer, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Immigration Subcommittee, has said that a biometric identification card is a necessary part of doing comprehensive immigration reform. "A National ID would not only violate privacy by helping to consolidate data and facilitate tracking of individuals, it would bring government into the very center of our lives by serving as a government permission slip needed by everyone in order to work," they added.

clipped from www.foxnews.com The Senate is working toward a ghastly compromise on immigration reform that includes a biometric national identification card for all Americans. The stated purpose of this national ID, which an employee must present before getting a job, is to prevent undocumented workers from being employed. Back in December I warned that a national ID is the inevitable conclusion of the anti-immigration movement. The failure of E-Verify to catch 54% of undocumented workers is only accelerating the call for a national ID. First, every worker would have to ask permission from the federal government to get a job. American workers shouldn’t have to beg or plead to anybody to get permission to work. Being employed should be a private agreement between an employer and employee. Period. The government should get out of the way. Second, carrying around government papers with biometric identification on it conjures up images of a more technologically savvy Oceania or East Germany. No thanks.

Tens of thousands call for immigration reform at Washington rally

clipped from www.latimes.com Tens of thousands of people began assembling in Washington on Sunday to march for immigration reform, a politically charged issue that has been pushed to a back burner by the intense focus on healthcare. Wearing colorful shirts and carrying banners and U.S. flags, thousands filled two blocks on the National Mall, chanting "si se puede" - "yes we can" - and "Obama listen, remember your promise." Among the marchers was Jose Barnell, 60, a janitor originally from Mexico who said he crossed the border in 1970. A longtime resident of Chicago, he said he is now legal, as are his children and grandchildren. He traveled to Washington by bus to support immigration reform. "This is the only issue on the table that has a history of bipartisan leadership," Nooani said, his voice almost lost by the sounds of the growing crowds. "Fixing immigration is fundamentally linked to the economy."
