Lockheed Martin presents airship of the future (1:38)

Aug. 18 - Inflatable aircrafts have been around since the Montgolfier brothers developed the first untethered hot-air balloon in 1782, but 200 years later, they are making a high-tech resurgence for both civilian and military use. U.S. aerospace company Lockheed Martin's version is called the P-791 airship, which it hopes is about to take off. Rob Muir reports. ( Transcript )

Fighting Wars with Robots The Future is Here

Fighting Wars with Robots

People have wondered for years what Technology can actually bring to our human lives. As some try to seek Health and Body. Others are bent on War and destruction. As always Check out all the links below. Also see the History Channels videos posted from YouTube.
Think Terminator cannot happen? What really gets me is since the U.N. and many other plan so much for and RFID chipping device world wide on Humans, placing a device like this read them can only make a person really wonder.
Imagine a day a robot loaded with weapons notices a person without a chip. Should it just open fire for not obeying the law?
One of many questions I have concerning this.

The Transformation of American Warfare: Fighting Wars with Robots

The Pentagon is rapidly improving its ability to fight wars with robots. This capability is "bringing about the most profound transformation of warfare since the advent of the atom bomb," says Scientific American, and raises "a host of ethical and legal issues."
"Robots are pouring onto battlefields as if a new species of mechanotronic alien had just landed on our planet," the publication says in an editorial on their development in its July issue.  "The prospect of androids that hunt down and kill on their own accord (shades of Terminator) should give us all pause. An automatic pilot that makes its own calls about whom to shoot violates the 'human' part of international humanitarian law, the one that recognizes that some weapons are so abhorrent that they just should be eliminated."

  • Fighting Hidden Killers

Military works on new techniques to counter IEDs in Afghanistan.

FORT LEONARD WOOD — They are the leading killer of coalition forces in an increasingly deadly war. And with a surge of 30,000 U.S. troops under way in Afghanistan, military experts expect the number of casualties from homemade bombs to increase even more in coming months.
The Counter Explosive Hazards Center is at the forefront of the Army's cat-and-mouse effort to defeat a weapon that in May alone killed 18 Americans and wounded 163 others.
Headquartered in a nondescript building on this sprawling post about 112 miles south of Columbia, the center provides soldiers bound for combat zones with the most up-to-date training in everything from how to spot and disable such bombs to searching for those who plant them.

  • The Transformation of American Warfare: Fighting Wars with Robots

  • Singer, who directs the 21st Century Defense Initiative at The Brookings Institution, in Washington, D.C., a non-profit research think tank, says robots include:
    # Lockheed Martin's High-Altitude Airship, an unmanned blimp that carries a radar the length of a football field and can fly at nearly 19,800 meters for over a month at a time.
    # Contractor QinetiQ North America's MAARS robot, resembling a tank that is armed with a machine gun and grenade launcher that does sentry and sniper duty.
    # The miniature surveillance "bot" from contractor AeroVironment that "mimics a hummingbird in size and its ability to hover over a target" and which flaps its wings frenetically as its cameras observe a scene.
    # The Counter-Rocket Artillery and Mortar, or C-RAM, which resembles Star Wars robot R2-D2 and is armed with a machine gun that can shoot down incoming missiles and is used to protect the Green Zone in Baghdad.
    # The TALON ground robot that can defuse bombs and peeks over obstacles to hunt for enemies.
    # The ChemBot, conceived by the University of Chicago and contractor iRobot, of Bedford, Mass., and which is "a bloblike machine that shifts shape, such that it is able to squeeze through a hole in the wall."
    # The Predator drone that can track 12 targets at once and which has been used in combat since 1995. This unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) from General Atomics is armed with two lethal Hellfire missiles that have killed as many as 40 al-Qaeda leaders but which, by some estimates, have killed as many as 1,000 civilians across Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Author Singer writes that robots are machines built to operate in a "sense-think-act" paradigm. Information from their sensors is relayed to computer processors or artificial intelligence software that decide whether to activate their mechanical "effectors."

Fallen soldier's parents critical of Obama

LAKE GEORGE - The parents of Army soldier Benjamin Osborn said Thursday that U.S. Bill and Beverly Osborn say that new military rules of engagement are making soldiers on the ground more vulnerable to attack, including they say, in the final battle that took their son's life.
"They were ambushed they were under attack and they couldn't fire until they were ordered to do so," Ben's father Bill Osborn said.
Wearing black armbands, a gold star pin, and grief fresh from burying their son, Bill and Beverly Osborn are speaking out about the circumstances of their son's death.
"Ben said that the tactics were wrong.

"We have to win the war first. The only way to do that is to have someone in charge who's a warrior, not a flower child," Beverly Osborn said.

Boy Not Allowed to Wear Patriotic Hat at School Because of Zero Tolerance

clipped from www.foxnews.com
A Rhode Island mother says her 8-year-old son's school would not let him wear a patriotic hat she says he designed for a project to honor Army troops because the school thought it was  inappropriate.
Christan Morales says her son David was assigned to make a crazy hat for his second grade class at the Tiogue School in Coventry, R.I. Morales said her son came up with an idea to glue small plastic Army figures to a camouflage hat with an American flag.

I am starting to wonder if the majority of American school systems are beyond the hope of common sense. I wrote an article here about a school banning braclets , here about a boy facing criminal charges over a stick figure drawing, and here about a teacher being fired for premarital sex.
Imagine the parents’ shock when they get a call from the principle saying the hat wasn’t appropriate. Apparently, the school found the hat inappropriate because the little plastic figures were holding guns.

Memorial Day Tribute 2010, Thank you, You Rock.

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY EVERYONE!Image by Island Capture Photography via Flickr

To all those who serve and have served in out Military, To Those who have fought and died for our freedom and to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America, Thank You. You all Totally Rock!

For those that haven’t severed, Go up to a soldier shake their hands and Thank Them Personally. Remember them, and remember those who have died, They did it all For You.

Again, We love you all, and thank you for doing your part in service, no matter how big or small that task may be . May God bless you all.

I want to add a few videos here in a tribute to those who have fought, continue to fight and have died for the very freedom we have here in America. As I see so many protesting and gossiping. Allowing and passing laws to take the Freedom from us.

All I can think about are those who fight for our very rights we have in this nation. God gave us much, provides us with much and allows us to have the freedom to speak our minds.

Those who can't stand it, Try going to live in any other country in the World. I dare you. If not. At least look at their laws and how they are forced to live. Our very own go out to fight not just for our Freedom but for their freedom as well. Nobody should have to live under any type of dictatorship, or communism, or genocidal government.

Freedom comes with a price. The same as Christ himself had to sacrifice. So do the soldiers out there sacrificing so much today.
May God bless you all Again, and again.
This Country song really should hit home for many.

Memorial Day, is about remembering those who have fought and died for that very freedom.

Here is my little tribute to them.

To this day I can still say I'm proud to be an American. I'll Gladly Stand Up Next to You, and Defend Her Still Today.
May Our Father in Heaven and our Lord Jesus Christ, Help you all and bless you all in your times of trouble out there and beyond. Good and bad, know that there are many of us here that fully support you and respect you for your sacrifices.
We love you all.

Army combat unit to deploy within U.S.

clipped from www.cnn.com

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The United States military's Northern Command, formed in the wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks, is dedicating a combat infantry team to deal with catastrophes in the U.S., including terrorist attacks and natural disasters.

Soldiers preparing for a mission coordinated by Joint Task Force North, the U.S. Northern Command unit.

The 1st Brigade Combat Team of the 3rd Infantry, which was first into Baghdad, Iraq, in 2003, started its controversial assignment Wednesday.

The First Raiders will spend 2009 as the first active-duty military unit attached to the U.S. Northern Command since it was created. They will be based in Fort Stewart, Georgia, and focus primarily on logistics and support for local police and rescue personnel, the Army says.

According to Northern Command's Web site, the CBRNE Consequence Management Response Force is a team that will ultimately number about 4,700 personnel from the different military branches that would deploy as the Department of Defense's initial response force.

American soldiers who are currently near Iran will not go back to America alive

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran's president said on Thursday he would not plead with opponents of Tehran's nuclear program in order to avoid sanctions as Russia and the United States said new measures might be necessary.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who Wednesday called President Barack Obama a nuclear-armed "cowboy", said Iran would "try to make an opportunity out of sanctions" rather than change its stance to avoid them.

After several warnings that it would hit back at Israel if attacked from there, Iran's military chief said Thursday he would target U.S. forces stationed in the Middle East if Washington attacked.

"If America presents Iran with a serious threat and undertakes any measure against Iran, none of the American soldiers who are currently in the region would go back to America alive,
"If America wants to have the region's oil and its markets then the region's markets would be taken away from America and the Muslims' control over oil would increase,"

Eligibility challenger: Don't touch my brain!

Flight surgeon questioning Obama rejects Army's suggestion of 'help'
clipped from www.wnd.com

A U.S. Army flight surgeon who posted a video indicating his complete rejection of all orders from the military unless Barack Obama documents his eligibility to occupy the Oval Office is now refusing an "unofficial" suggestion from the Army for a medical evaluation.

WND reported this week the Army was hinting that Lt. Col Terry Lakin should undergo a brain scan and medical review.

Officially, the U.S. Army says it has no plans for formal action at this point against the officer. But Calhoun Hemenway told WND that Lakin's "no" meant "no."

"He is not taking any suggested medical evaluation or brain scan. He is refusing to obey all orders including deployment orders," she confirmed.

But as WND reported, the controversy raises the prospect that the government may be unwilling to pursue a prosecution because of the possible ramifications – which could include a defense lawyer's demand for a court-ordered discovery process that would target Obama's historical documentation
