Michigan Attorney General Is Joining The Fight To Stop ObamaCare

Attorney General Mike Cox on Monday filed a constitutional challenge to federal health care reforms passed by Congress amid a fury of backlash from Michigan opponents that included a petition drive by Tea Party leaders to put the issue on the November ballot.

Michigan is among several states that have joined Florida in challenging whether Congress has the authority to compel citizens to buy health insurance or face fines.

The move follows passage of landmark legislation late Sunday that aims to overhaul the nation's health care system by expanding it to an estimated 32 million uninsured Americans.

"Congress' attempt to force Michigan families to buy health insurance -- or else -- raises serious constitutional concerns," Cox said in a press release. "We will fight to defend the individual rights and freedoms of Michigan citizens against this radical overreach by the federal government."

Opponents want to allow citizens to opt out.
