clipped from www.personalliberty.com Secretary of State Hillary Clinton surprised many—including the Justice Department and the White House—by recently declaring on an overseas news program that the Federal government will sue the state of Arizona over its controversial new immigration law. During a June 8 interview on an Ecuador news station, Clinton said that President Obama firmly believes that the Federal government should define immigration policies, and that the "Justice Department, under his direction, will be bringing a lawsuit against the act." Clinton—stating that they are continuing to "review" the law—Arizona Governor Jan Brewer fired back, expressing again her willingness to meet the Federal government in court. "To learn of this lawsuit through an Ecuadorean interview with the secretary of state is just outrageous," she said. "If our own government intends to sue our state to prevent illegal immigration enforcement, the least it can do is inform us before it informs the citizens of another nation." |
