With a name Hussein, I'm not sure why this shocks people. After all, Islam is Obama's roots. His actions have proved time and time again that Christianity is far from his own knowledge, and for a person to look at all history and try to claim Islam Peaceful? Well they may want to look further into it. Anyone Remember Rome? Who was it again that invaded Rome as it fell? Hmmmm. I wonder how many can actually answer that question today. lol

(Mark Lennihan/Associated Press) U.S. President Barack Obama on Friday endorsed building a mosque near Ground Zero, saying the country's founding principles demanded no less.
  "As a citizen, and as president, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practise their religion as anyone else in this country," Obama said, weighing in for the first time on the controversy.
  "That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community centre on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances," he said. "This is America, and our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakable."
  Obama made the comments at an annual dinner in the White House state dining room celebrating the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.
  The White House had not previously taken a stand on the mosque, which would be part of a $100-million Islamic centre to be built in lower Manhattan, two blocks from where nearly 3,000 people perished when hijacked jets slammed into the World Trade Center towers on Sept. 11, 2001.
  Press secretary Robert Gibbs had insisted it was a local matter.
  The issue sparked debate around the country as top Republicans including Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich announced their opposition.
  While insisting that the place where the twin towers once stood was indeed "hallowed ground," Obama said that the proper way to honour it was to apply American values and show "a way of life that stands in stark contrast to the nihilism of those who attacked us on that September morning, and who continue to plot against us today."

Obama admin. to appeal prayer ruling

The ruling came in a lawsuit filed against President Obama and White House spokesman Robert Gibbs. One week ago, a federal judge in Wisconsin ruled that the president's declaration of a national day for prayer was unconstitutional. The government today informed the court that it will appeal the decision. Since 1952, when Congress required the president to issue a proclamation designating a national day of prayer, all presidents have done so. Beginning in 1988, the day has been the first Thursday in May, because Congress amended the original law to declare it the day for the event. that "does not mean that the government may enact a statute in support of it, any more than the government may encourage citizens

Press Room Laughtrer Dies Down

Back in May, POLITICO analyzed the press briefings and found that the instances of laughter — as indicated by "(Laughter)" being noted in the official transcript — occurred more than 10 times per day during press secretary Robert Gibbs's briefings. But the laughter has been reduced by half in recent months: In the first six months of the Obama administration, briefings produced an average of 179 laughs per month. Over the past six months, the average has dropped down to 89. "The tone is one reason for less laughter," says American Urban Radio's April Ryan. "There are lots of serious questions begging for serious answers. Those questions do not meld with laughter and light banter."
