  A top Syrian businessman at the weekend insisted that the Middle East peace process is a farce, and that there will never be peace or coexistence between average Arabs and the Jews of Israel.
  "Don't let the moderate Arab leaders delude you," Yasser Kashlak, who is of Palestinian descent, said on Hizballah's al-Manar television, "[you] cannot make peace with us."
  "Our children will return to Palestine, you have no reason for coexistence," he continued. "Even if our leaders will sign a peace agreement, we will not sign."
  Kashlak is financing a flotilla of ships departing from Lebanon with the intent of breaking the Israeli maritime blockade of the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip. He said the Jews of Israel should seriously consider getting on those ships and returning to Europe, as they will never find peace in the Middle East.

  During his tirade, Kashlak referred to the Jews as "Europe's refuse," suggesting that Jews are foreign to the Middle East, a concept those supportive of the "Palestinian cause" have long advocated. It ignores the fact that there has been an unbroken Jewish presence in the region for at least 3,000 years. That presences has been documented by successive ancient empires from the Assyrians to the Babylonians to the Persians to the Greeks and, most thoroughly, by the Romans.

Iran ready to protect Gaza-bound ships

clipped from www.upi.com TEHRAN, June 7 (UPI) -- Iran is prepared to deploy the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp naval forces to escort aid ships pressing an Israeli blockade on Gaza, authorities said. Israel enacted a blockade on Gaza in 2007 to keep weapons out of the hands of the ruling Hamas, which has vowed to destroy Israel. A flotilla May 31 refused Israeli orders to divert to the port of Ashdod for inspections. Israeli forces then raided a Turkish-flagged vessel in the convoy in international waters, killing nine in what the Israeli military said was an act of self-defense. "The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps navy is ready to escort the peace and freedom convoys that carry humanitarian assistance for the defenseless and oppressed people of Gaza with all its strength," he said. He said the IRGC was ready to receive his orders, noting the enemies of Iran "should be met head-on through a spontaneous international movement, and we should foil their evil plots."

clipped from www.jpost.com Dozens of passengers who were aboard the Mavi Marmara Turkish passenger ship are suspected of having connections with global jihad-affiliated terrorist organizations, defense officials said on Tuesday, amid growing concerns that Turkish warships would accompany a future flotilla to the Gaza Strip. According to the defense officials, the IDF has identified about 50 passengers on the ship who could have terrorist connections with global jihad-affiliated groups. During its searches of the Mavi Marmara on Tuesday, the military also discovered a cache of bulletproof vests and night-vision goggles, as well as gas masks. On Monday morning, at least nine foreign activists were killed during the navy’s takeover of the Mavi Marmara, which was trying to break Israel’s blockade of the Gaza Strip. The group of over 50 passengers with possible terror connections have refused to identify themselves and were not carrying passports. Peace Activists prepare weapons.
