Real ID is here, and these poor people don't have a choice in the matter.

SOUTH SHORE - Anyone who walks into the Hillsborough County Tax Collector's Office to renew a driver's license is likely to find the requirements have changed quite a bit since their last trip. Courtesy of the state's effort to comply with the federal Real ID Act, a number of original documents are now required to prove identity. For some, the documentation is simple: a Social Security card, birth certificate and two proofs of residency. For others, however, the list can also include marriage licenses and divorce decrees. The Congressional act is designed to bolster national security, and Westberry said Real ID also protects people. To find out more about the new driver's license laws, visit gathergoget .com. Information on the license requirements is also available on the county's website at hillstax.org. |
