Matthew 24
8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
9 “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. 10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. 11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

  • Battle rages around president's palace, key sites
  • 1,000 dead in western Ivorian town - Red Cross
  • TV shows Gbagbo, reportedly at his Abidjan residence
A thousand civilians have been found massacred in a small town in Ivory Coast amid worsening civil conflict in the West African state.

The victims were discovered by aid agency workers in Duekoue. Some had been shot and others hacked to death with machetes.

It was not clear last night who carried out the attacks, but the area is thought to be in the control of supporters of Alassane Ouattara, who won Ivory Coast's election late last year. President Laurent Gbagbo has refused to step down.

Red Cross spokesman Dorothea Krimitsas warned: 'There is a risk this kind of event can happen again.'
Last night 10,000 refugees crowded into Duekoue's Catholic church, guarded by 1,000 United Nations peacekeepers.
Heavy fighting has continued in the main city, Abidjan, as Ouattara's forces battle for the presidential palace.

State TV came back on air after fighting took it down and they were showing pictures of Gbagbo looking relaxed and drinking tea, stating that the pictures were from his city residence.
Gunfire and explosions were heard from heavy shelling close to the presidential palace throughout the morning, and clashes raged around the military bases and offices of state broadcaster, RTI, which is still in the Gbagbo's hands.

Matthew 24
36 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven,[e] but My Father only. 37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 38 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 40 Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. 42 Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour[f] your Lord is coming.

Fire completely destroyed a doublewide mobile home north of Lebanon this morning.

Fire crews from Lebanon and Lebanon Rural and an ambulance from St. John's Hospital-Lebanon still were on the scene on Open Meadow Drive at press time today.

Lebanon Rural Fire Chief Dustin Britzman was the commander on the scene. Firefighters appeared to be successful in saving an adjacent frame building.

The home, which belongs to Greg and Jonda Boudonck, was already ablaze when fire crews arrived at about 10:15 a.m.

The cause of the fire was undetermined at press time, but neighbors reported the home may have had electrical problems.

No one was in the home when the fire started, according to the homeowner, Greg Boudonck.

The Daily Record will have additional photos and video from the fire on its Web site later today, and updated information about the cause of the fire in the Wednesday edition of The Daily Record.
