The curious disappearance of Lachlan Cranswick

The curious disappearance of Lachlan Cranswick

26 February 2010: Lachlan CRANSWICK, a 41 year-old nuclear scientist working in Ontario vanished last month without a trace. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance are indeed curious and the case merits more than a casual mention, especially in light of numerous other instances of nuclear scientists and microbiologists turning up missing or dead within the last few years, many under mysterious circumstances.

On Monday, January 18, CRANSWICK, who works at the Chalk River Laboratories nuclear facility in Ottawa where he runs experiments for the National Research Council, just completed work for an overseas researcher. He reportedly left his report of findings on his desk to be mailed later, and boarded a bus from the nuclear facility to his home in Deep River, Ontario at 4:30 pm on that day.

ObamaCare Summit Fails The Smell Test

clipped from www.ameripac.org
Obama’s NEW Government Takeover Scheme Creates Socialized Health Care
Obama cut off discussion continually and said “move on” to stop the GOP from discussing anything that would make a real difference in healthcare reform.
Obama ignored the American public and Republicans as Reid threatened to implement ObamaCare using budget "reconciliation" with no final House or Senate Vote saying we have done this before and we can do it again.
Thousands joined us for ObamaCare Summit Online Tea Party.  The “SUMMIT” was not carried by most stations and even CPAN snubbed it putting it on CPAN-3.  Who watches CPAN-3 anyway?
Americans watching overwhelmingly said they were disappointed in the arrogance of Obama and his lack of respect for differing proposals pushing for costly comprehensive reform instead of discussing incremental steps to curb costs.  Most of the comments on our twitter link said that the bill should be scraped and Congress should start over.

Online Tax Revolt to Storm Washington to Demand Tax Reform

The first-ever Online Tax Revolt, a free, interactive march on Washington was launched today.  Using state of the art technology, concerned Americans can have a voice on tax policy, culminating on April 15 with events in Washington, D.C.

“The Online Tax Revolt is open to every American who believes taxes and spending are out of control, harmful to our country and a threat to our nation’s future,” said Campaign Chairman Ken Hoagland.  “Our economic future and that of future generations is at stake.  We need taxes that are lower and a tax structure that’s fair.

“We’re in serious trouble and it falls to us to get the nation back on track. This march is a wake-up call to everyone in Washington that the American people won’t be ignored any longer,” said Mr. Hoagland.

Though sponsored by Americans for Fair Taxation, the Online Tax Revolt is neutral on tax policy It is open to all who are fed up and want real tax reform.

Chile earthquake: 'Everyone fears aftershocks'

Earthquake Data, Feb 27thImage by nickbilton via Flickr

clipped from news.bbc.co.uk
A massive earthquake with a magnitude of 8.8 has hit central Chile, killing dozens of people.

Although phone communication out of Chile has been difficult, people have been contacting the BBC via email and Twitter. Below are some of the responses we've been sent.

The quake seemed to last more than two minutes in Santiago. Buildings seemed to resist the quake very well.
It was tremendous; the buildings were literally dancing in the air; I've driven through the old downtown and there's no relevant damage, but there are some collapsed bridges.
We are in Santiago. Quake lasted about thirty seconds. Buildings shook violently. Seem to all have withstood structural damage but there is broken glass.
Yes, I felt it at 3:40am, we were in bed but woke up with the shaking
I am in the La Reina/Las Condes area of Santiago. It's OK on our few streets - lasted about two minutes

U.S. Climate Data Compromised by Sensors' Proximity to Heat Sources, Critics Say

clipped from www.foxnews.com

A critical cog in the machinery that drives the theory of global warming may be compromised, as temperature sensors across the U.S. appear to be exposed to heat sources that some critics say is corrupting their information.

A critical cog in the machinery that drives the theory of global warming is a small white box not too far from where you live. Inside the box sits a thermometer that tracks the local temperature, which in turn becomes part of a data trail for the monitoring of climate change on Earth.

But there's a problem: Nearly every single weather station the U.S. government uses to measure the country's surface temperature may be compromised. Sensors that are supposed to be in empty clearings are instead exposed to crackling electronics and other unlikely sources of heat, from exhaust pipes and trash-burning barrels to chimneys and human graves.

90 percent of the sensors are too close to potential sources of heat to pass muster, including some very odd sources indeed:

Cybersecurity bill to give president new emergency powers

clipped from thehill.com

The president would have the power to safeguard essential federal and private Web resources under draft Senate cybersecurity legislation.

The president would then have the ability to initiate those network contingency plans to ensure key federal or private services did not go offline during a cyberattack of unprecedented scope, the aide said.
Ultimately, the legislation is chiefly the brainchild of Sens. Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.) and Olympia Snowe (R-Maine), the chairman and ranking member of the Senate Commerce Committee, respectively
Rockefeller and Snowe's forthcoming bill would establish a host of heretofore absent cybersecurity prevention and response measures

It is unclear when Rockefeller and Snowe will finish their legislation. And the ongoing debate over healthcare reform, financial regulatory reform, jobs bills and education fixes could postpone action on the floor for many months.

* Buildings toppled, bridges and roads damaged

SANTIAGO, Feb 27 (Reuters) - A huge magnitude-8.8
earthquake struck Chile early on Saturday, killing at least 122
people, knocking down homes and hospitals, and triggering a
tsunami that rolled menacingly across the Pacific.

TV Chile reported that a 15-storey building collapsed in
the hardest-hit city of Concepcion, where buildings caught
fire, major highway bridges collapsed and cracks opened up in
the streets. Cars turned upside down lay scattered across one
damaged bridge.

Chilean President-elect Sebastian Pinera said 122 people
had been killed and the death toll could climb higher.

Tsunami warnings were posted around the Pacific, including
the U.S. state of Hawaii, Japan and Russia.

"Never in my life have I experienced a quake like this,
it's like the end of the world," one man told local television
from the city of Temuco, where the quake damaged homes and
forced staff to evacuate the regional hospital.

HEADLINES ECHO PROPHECIES

Are we living in the last days? The Bible warns that in the end times we will see the emergence of a new global currency, earthquakes and severe natural disasters, the emergence of a Russian-Iranian alliance, and apocalyptic wars with Israel. Consider, then, a few of today’s noteworthy news stories:

  • Head of IMF Proposes New Global Currency

  • ‘Catastrophe’ in Chile after 8.8-magnitude quake – “Tsunami warnings were issued over a wide area, including South America, Hawaii, Australia and New Zealand, Japan, the Philippines, Russia and many Pacific islands. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center also said a tsunami advisory was in effect for the coast of California and coastal areas of Alaska from Kodiak to Attu.”

Obama Rejects Attackers' Cries of 'Socialism'

    Unbelievable!
    clipped from www.cnbc.com
    President Barack Obama

President Barack Obama launched a vigorous defense of his economic agenda Wednesday, rejecting critics who call his policies "socialism" and insisting he aims to boost U.S. competitiveness abroad.

Speaking to the Business Roundtable, which groups some of the country's top chief executives, Obama called for support of his administration's efforts to overhaul financial regulation and create jobs.

Obama's remarks were set against a backdrop of unease in the business community about his economic and budget policies as well as his legislative drive for healthcare, energy and financial regulatory reform.

"Contrary to the claims of some of my critics, I am an ardent believer in the free market," Obama said in prepared remarks.

"We have arrived at a juncture in our politics where reasonable efforts to update our regulations, or make basic investments in our future, are too often greeted with cries of 'government takeover' or even 'socialism'," Obama said.

Climate scientists hope independent reviews will reverse public’s loss of trust

A man watches an animated projection, showing the different acidity of the ocean, inside the U.S. Center 09 during the second day of the United Nations Climate Change Conference 2009

The two most influential advisory bodies on climate change are planning
independent reviews of their research in an attempt to regain public trust
after revelations about errors and the suppression of data.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is to appoint an independent
team to examine its procedures after admitting having made errors that
exaggerated the severity of the impact of global warming.

Two separate inquiries are being held into allegations that the unit tried to
hide raw data from critics and exaggerated the extent of global warming.

The allegations about climate scientists are believed to have contributed to a
sharp rise in public scepticism about climate change.

Data from 3,000 weather stations around the world has already been published
on the Met Office website and it hopes that data from the remaining 2,500
will be available later this year.

It said that the reassessment would take up to three years.

Libya's Gaddafi urges 'holy war' against Switzerland

    clipped from news.bbc.co.uk
    Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, June 2009

Libya's Muammar Gaddafi has called for a jihad, or holy war, against Switzerland, as an ongoing diplomatic row between the two nations heats up.

He criticised a recent Swiss vote against the building of minarets and said Muslims must boycott the country.

"Let us wage jihad against Switzerland, Zionism and foreign aggression," he said.

"Any Muslim in any part of the world who works with Switzerland is an apostate, is against Muhammad, God and the Koran."

Libya's move came after Switzerland allegedly blacklisted 188 high-ranking Libyans, denying them entry permits. The Swiss ban is said to include Mr Gaddafi and his family.

They were accused of assaulting two servants while staying at a luxury hotel in the Swiss city, though the charges were later dropped.

In the same month that the Gaddafis were arrested, Libyan authorities detained two Swiss businessmen, in what analysts believe was a retaliatory move.

CDC Panel Calls for Flu Vaccine for All

I would hope and pray that people are intelligent enough to do some research on these Flu shots before they actually get them. Be sure to check out the ingredients, like mercury and other fatal substances before allowing them to inject you or your children.

Experts Recommend Yearly Flu Vaccine for All Americans, Not Just Those at High Risk

Feb. 24, 2010 -- Everybody, not just those at risk of complications, should
get a yearly flu shot, the CDC's immunization advisory panel says.

The CDC almost certainly will make universal flu vaccination official U.S.
policy for this fall's 2010-2011 flu season, as it consistently follows the
advice of the panel of outside experts, called the Advisory Committee on
    Immunization Practices
    (ACIP).

Now flu vaccination will be advised even for healthy adults ages 19 to 49
who do not come into contact with infants or elderly people, who are at
    highest risk of flu complications.

The 2010-2011 seasonal flu vaccine will include the H1N1 swine flu vaccine,
as the pandemic virus appears to have replaced the seasonal H1N1 virus covered
by previous vaccines. The new seasonal vaccine will also include protection
against the predominant "Perth" H3N2 type A and "Brisbane" type B flus.
