Detroit Is Laying The Foundation For Downsizing Using Stimulus Money

The city of Detroit is laying the foundation for downsizing and they are using stimulus money, and other federal funds, to accomplish this.

Detroit Mayor Bing (D) and his staff are leveraging money intended to ’stimulate’ the economy and create jobs (even though we all know Keynesian economics doesn’t work) by selectively dispersing money in areas deemed viable and using it for home rehabilitation or demolition.

But Bing is beginning to employ a targeted approach. His staff is already targeting neighborhoods with most of the roughly $60 million in stimulus money the federal money has provided for demolitions and rehabs
